OTA Contemporary launches the winter season with VOICES | A Visual Conversation.
David A. Clark
Hernan Gomez Chavez
This exhibition will reveal to the collectors of Santa Fe a first glimpse of the haunting, encaustic monoprints of David A. Clark. His compelling and insistent use of the symbol of the arrow demands engagement; and his subtle mastery of the encaustic medium is deeply impressive. In a tradition of printmaking where encaustic is frequently used to create luscious and flowing patterns, Clark’s bravura is on display as he manipulates wax, paint, and stencils to evoke images and angles reminiscent of the past.
Kiyomi Baird’s intriguing use of the Nihonga technique transforms handmade mulberry paper into a universe of color and texture. These atmospheric compositions contrast with the geometric intricacies of New Yorker Nola Zirin. A member of the renowned American Abstract Artists group, Zirin’s vibrant colors and fearlessness with materials evoke the energy of an urban environment. Hernan Gomez Chavez returns to OTA Contemporary with sculpture that provides an architectural complement to Zirin’s paintings. The mysterious and popular holograms of August Muth will be on display when they return to the front window to enchant and entice. The paintings of Carlos Frias and Mario Martinez engage in a graphic dialogue that explodes in a burst of passion and vibrant color. The sublime marble and alabaster works of sculpture by Somers Randolph captivate with their alluring surfaces that demand to be caressed. And the artist insists that you do.
Don’t miss this glorious celebration of creativity and joy.
